David E. Hershberg Named a VIP Member of Cambridge Who's Who for Contributions to Satellite Communications
David Hershberg holds U.S. patents for detail equipment design and Internet system design
HAUPPAUGE, NY, September 06, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- David E. Hershberg, Chief Executive Officer of Globecomm Systems, has been selected as a VIP member by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in satellite communications.
Inducted into the Hall of Fame of Society of Satellite Professionals International, Mr. Hershberg is widely respected for his knowledge of satellite technology. He draws upon no fewer than 50 years of experience in his work of overseeing operations for Globecomm Systems, a satellite communication systems company. As the organization's CEO since 1994, Mr. Hershberg is in charge of business development, strategic planning, finance, marketing, and sales operations. He has been granted several U.S. patents, some for detail equipment design and others for Internet system design, during the course of his long career. Involved in his profession since 1959, he attributes his success and longevity to surrounding himself with great people.
Mr. Hershberg holds an MS in engineering from Columbia University, a degree in management science from Stevens Institute of Technology, and a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He has a number of patents in satellite communications and is a member of The Society of Satellite Professionals Hall of Fame and winner of the Entrepreneur of the Year award and the Golden Eagle award from Ward Melville Heritage Organization for his contribution to the Long Island economy. In March 2008, Mr. Hershberg was inducted into the Long Island Technology Hall of Fame (LITHF). The intention of the Long Island Technology Hall of Fame is to recognize, honor and preserve the contributions, accomplishments, and dedication of historical fugures or current leaders in science or technology who have had, or are having, an impact on Long Island.
Mr. Hershberg has been honored with many awards throughout his life. They include: a Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Satellite Communications Exchange (ISCe), recognition as the Herman Fialkov Business Person of the Year by the Long Island Capital Alliance, the Long Island Heritage Society Golden Eagle award, the Boy Scout Good Scout award and the Leroy Grumman award from the Cradle of Aviation Museum.
